Second-Generation Redwood is not grown from a seed but rather spouts form a harvested root system of another full-grown Redwood tree. Because the existing root system is in place, it grows much faster than a tree born from a seed – nearly four-times as fast.
Second-Growth Redwood presents with many of the same distinctive red hues of old-growth redwood, but the speed at which it grows means the space between the annual growth rings is much wider than its Old Growth counterpart. For this reason, Second-Growth Redwood is best suited for indoor woodworking and architectural projects or outdoor projects that are out of the way of direct sunlight, rain, and intense moisture.
