Bay Laurel is a blond-colored hardwood that grows locally along the Pacific and Monterey coast and is best known for its aromatic leaves that can be used in cooking as a seasoning for stews and broths.
As a milled live-edge slab or cut into dimensional lumber, Bay Laurel is a woodworker's favorite. It cuts, shapes, and sands nicely, and finishes to an olive and yellow toned hue, often exhibiting beautiful grain patterns. Bay Laurel is also called Myrtlewood up north in Oregon and Washington.
