Old Growth Redwood
Old Growth California Redwood is a highly coveted species native to the Santa Cruz Mountains and surrounding regions of Carmel, Big Sur and coastal Northern California. Born from a seed (vs. sprouting from an existing root structure), Old Growth Redwood grows slowly, developing tightly spaced annual growth rings that make it one of the most dense softwoods you can find, and also produce a desirable vertical grain pattern when quarter-sawn.
The distinctive reddish-salmon colored grain really pops with a clear coat wood finish. Or leave it unfinished to age to a brownish gray. Due to its status as a protected species, our Old Growth Redwood stock comes exclusively from windfalls, hazardous tree removals, and certified fire and shade breaks prescribed by forest management plans.
